Good sounding, Bluetooth 5.0 wireless headphones, JBL Reflect Flow Review

JBL Reflect Flow review

I am a music lover, and I love listening to music on different devices. Recently, I went through a product-JBL Reflect Flow, Bluetooth wireless earbuds. I listened to them, and I was dazzled with its sound profile. I love these great earbuds and decided to write a review.

The JBL Reflect Flow Bluetooth 5.0 wireless headphones are a decent, solid, and aesthetically stunning pair of earbuds in the market. JBL, one of the established names in the audio industry. JBL not only produces high-quality, stylish, audiophile-sounding products but also doesn’t compromise on their durability. The JBL Reflect Flow is a solid build along with an excellent-sounding profile.

The price of JBL Reflect Flow is 149$. It has detailed audio performance, long battery life, and IPX7 sweat and water resistance capabilities, but it is recommended not to use it while swimming. Although, it can bear 1meter of water pressure.

They are somewhat bulky but are quite snugly in your ears. They are secure fit during workouts, and their Ambient Aware mode allows you to hear your surroundings. They also have nice passive-noise canceling protection that allows sound not to leak while pumping up the buds to their maximum volume.

The earbuds have Bluetooth 5.0 wireless communication standard, which is the latest standard that transmits audio without compromising on its quality.

The earbuds have 30 hours of battery use, and that’s with the charging case. That means earbuds have continuous 10 hours of usage and can be recharged twice with their charging case. A 10 min fast charge brings you back in the game for another hour. Each bud has its microphone, and the phone call voice is very cleared and detailed. You have a touch operation from listening to music to receiving phone calls. But it doesn’t have an active noise canceling feature.

Unfortunately, earbuds don’t align with the JBL app., so you can’t customize the sound using the app’s equalizer. Overall, they’re still a superb-quality pair of Bluetooth wireless headphones with many features.

Let’s jump deep into the product and reconnaissance by an honest JBL Reflect Flow review that might help you understand its negative and positive traits.

JBL Reflect Flow, Design, and Unboxing

Available in blue, black, and green, JBL Reflect Flow is a bit bulky but lightweight. When you unbox them, you acquire three ear fins and three ear tips in different sizes. It is quite possible to choose your size accordingly for the perfect fit and comfort and enjoy it!

JBL Reflect Flow is somewhat bulky but fits properly in ears with decent comfort. Possibly, Reflect Flow Buds are a bit uncomfortable in some smaller ears. When you wear them, as do most of the buds, you need to fit them into your ear canal, which may cause discomfort for a longer listening time. Furthermore, when you push their buttons to function, buttons are physical buttons that may cause pain in your ears. It depends upon your ear structure to fit with comfort. Moreover, you can crossmatch their tips and fins to get maximum close to your ear size. However, It fits perfectly in my ears.

JBL Reflect Flow comes with a pair of buds, a pair of ergonomic silicone ear fins (three different sizes), ear tips (three different sizes), a charging case, and a charging cable. The charging port on the charging case is a micro USB. In my opinion, I believe that it should be a type C charging port. These days type C ports are the latest in technology and used in modern electronics.

The charging case requires two hours of charging to get it fully powered. The buds have ten hours long battery to use and can be charged twice with their charging case. The case is sturdy with a flip cap and not big enough and weighty, that’s why it can fit easily in your pocket. It has the JBL brand logo at the front and has charging indicator LEDs at the back. Whenever you connect the case to charge, each LED tile indicates its charging status.

JBL Reflect Flow

The Buds are rated IPX7 rank, which means they are sweat-and-water-resistant, but it is advisable not to use them while swimming. Although it can bear a maximum of a meter of water pressure, for that reason, it can handle heavy rain. I tested them by putting them into a glass of water for 5min, and when I pulled them out, they were working fine. Please keep in mind the buds are IPX7 rank, neither the charging case. Therefore, dry them before putting them into the charging case. Otherwise, it may cause them to short and malfunction.

Ambient Aware mode is a captivating feature of the buds, which allows you to hear your surroundings. Moreover, it has the passive noise-canceling ability, which means it won’t allow sound to leak while listening to them to their maximum volume. TalkThru feature allows you to receive calls without putting the buds off.

JBL Reflect Flow, Sounding

JBL Reflect Flow has 5.8mm drivers, and each driver weighs 85g, The sensitivity of the drivers is 1kHz/1mW (dB): 102db SPL. While performing, It reaches on 14Ohms impedance. It produces frequencies ranging from 20hz to 20khz.

The buds deliver thunderous punchy bass that would appeal to those who like heavy bass during their workouts. Moreover, the high frequencies are immaculate. While testing, I’ve listened to a couple of tracks, including Reggae, Rock, and Classical music, and the results are unspeakable. In my Reggae collection, I tested “Stir It Up” from Bob Marle, and the Reflect-Flow delivered an enormous amount of percussive hits and crips highs.

In Rock music, I listened to “Mother Russia” from Iron Maiden, and the buds delivered an astonishingly balanced and detailed sound. Along with its maximum volume, my ear did not hurt either. And in the Classical Genre, I listened to the 5th symphony of Beethoven, and each instrument spreads its magic separately and clearly.

There’s no distortion at high volume, and even on the moderate volume, the bass levels are percussive, punchy, and merged nicely with its carved highs. Overall, Reflect Flow is an impressive wireless earbud for everyone and good for all music genres.

The call quality on these buds is detailed, cleared, and easy to manage. The controls on each bud are somewhat different. The button on the left bud controls Ambient Aware mode, and then double-clicking the left button skips forward a track. The button on the right bud controls playback and call management. Simultaneously, pressing both buttons for 5sec will power off the buds. These buds do not have active noise canceling features.

Both buds of Reflect Flow have their microphones. We tested and recorded voice-over using the voice recording app on iPhone SE. The recordings were crystal clear, and the vocal quality was crisp. It didn’t seem that the reader sounded from far away.
